One of the favorite treats at my house is "homemade" doughnuts. They are fast, easy, inexpensive and super yummy!1 can refrigerated tube biscuits - (35¢ on sale)
vegetable oil - enough to fill @ 2-3 inches of deep pot
1/3 cup Sugar and cinnamon to taste mixed - enough to coat finished doughnuts
1. Cut center holes in biscuits. I use a rounded 1/4 tsp measuring spoon. This gives you 10 doughnuts and 10 doughnut holes!
2. Heat oil on stove top until bubbly hot, then turn temperature down slightly. Not an exact science - you just have to figure out the best temp for your stove top. You want the oil hot enough to fry the dough all the way through without burning the outside.
3. Use tongs to flip doughnut over to brown both sides (usually takes just a few seconds)
4. Remove doughnut from oil and place on paper towel lined plate to absorb excess oil.
5. Roll doughnut in sugar & cinnamon mixture to coat
6. Enjoy right away - these babies are best when they are hot!

I did these with my children although never the baked version which sounds yummy! Thanks for bringing back great memories and I'll plan a cooking day with the grandson!
Thanks for sharing! It has been a while since I made these. Hummmmm...I feel a baking day coming on! :)
My mom used to make the fried version for us, now I make them with my girls. We always use a bottle top from a soda bottle to cut the hole.
The baked version sounds yummy! We may have to have those...tomorrow!

teaspoons? bottlecaps? we just poked our fingers through the middle and then stretched the dough out a bit. done.
I miss these, can't get refrigerator biscuits here in the UK. Something else to add to my list of things mom must have in the house when I go home for a visit!
